ARPA projects move forward

The Platte County Commission continues to move forward with capital projects funded through federal COVID relief funds.

Commissioners met the past two Mondays to approve items for special ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) projects.

On Monday, Oct. 23, commissioners met to approve additional tasks for George Butler Associates, the engineering firm contracted to oversee ARPA projects. Those projects include miscellaneous design work at the Platte County Resource Center, which is being converted for use by the Platte County Sheriff’s Office; design work to eliminate birds, bats and other critters from invading the county courthouse and jail; and design work for a computer server room at the Platte County Resource Center.

Various change orders to the Platte County Resource Center renovations were also approved. The skylights at the Platte County Resource Center will be eliminated.

County recorder Chris Wright presented a change order addition to his record digitization project, tacking an additional $17,750 onto the project to handle records in the office of retired county attorney Bob Shaw.

Monday, Oct. 30, during a five-minute meeting, commissioners approved an invitation to bid for various mechanical replacements and upgrades in several county facilities. The project would cover the replacement of heaters, boilers, chillers, HVAC and other mechanical devices in need of an update throughout county facilities. Bids are due Tuesday, Nov. 28.
