Both of Platte County’s cross country teams dominated at the KC Suburban Conference White Division Championships on Saturday, Oct. 19, at Fort Osage, with the girls’ team sweeping the individual and team championships.
Freshman Tyler Stambersky has dominated in her first year, and that trend continued with a winning time of 19:54.5 to lead the girls’ team to the White Division Championship. Also finishing in the Top 10 were senior Madelynn Nichols, who finished fourth with a time of 20:59.66, followed by senior Madison Palmer, who finished sixth with a time of 21:12, and junior Maddie Stewart, who finished seventh with a time of 21:20.62.
Senior Brooklynne Jenni finished with a time of 21:55.82, followed by freshman Arsema Ayiche with a time of 21:57.85 and junior Indigo Teufel with a time of 22:37.78.
On the guys’ side, senior Tanner Jenks led for part of the race but finished runner-up with a time of 15:58.32, followed by junior Blake Herron, who finished third with a time of 16:07.23. Junior Donavin Ness finished sixth with a time of 16:56.42, followed by senior Ethan Smith, who finished seventh with a time of 17:22.46, and freshman Landon McKinzie, who finished 11th with a time of 17:26.47. As a team, the Pirates finished runner-up.
