Fire Department work to put out a structure fire reported Friday, Nov. 27 at a residence in the 4900th block of Fisk Avenue, located just off of Highway 9 between Parkville, Mo. and Riverside, Mo. Crews from the Southern Platte Fire Protection District and the Kansas City (Mo.) Fire Department responded to a fully involved house fire on Friday, Nov. 27.

The structure fire was reported at about 4:30 p.m. at a residence located just off of Highway 9 between Parkville, Mo. and Riverside, Mo. Crews were able to contain the fire within about two hours, but a report estimates the losses to be about $85,000.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Upon arrival, crews noted heavy fire showing from the front of the residence. One woman was home at the time of the fire, and she reported smelling smoke coming from the second floor before vacating the home. Two minors who live at the house were not home at the time.

The fire had been above the ceiling in the upstairs bedrooms before the ceiling collapsed, which helped it spread to the lower floor.
