Heese was recently named to the Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association all-state team, the first player from North Platte to receive the honor. North Platte senior Katie Heese became the first Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association all-state team selection in program history, making the Class 1 honorable mention list this season. The Panthers have played since 1979, and the MHSVCA records date back to 1985.

A four-year contributor, Heese helped take North Platte to a second straight KCI Conference Tournament title and a second regular season league title in three years this past season. The Panthers went 27-6, including a 16-match winning streak, this past season, losing in the Class 1 District 15 semifinals to KC Lutheran.

In Heese’s three years as a starter, North Platte went 69-25-4.

Heese led a balanced North Platte attack with 252 kills and 40 blocks this season, but also added 201 digs. She ended up with a 92.7 serve percentage to go with 88 aces.

Park Hill South junior Andi Elley gave the Panthers an all-state member for the fifth consecutive season. Selected to the Class 4 second team, Elley led Park Hill South to a 29-6-1 season, which included an unblemished run through the Suburban Conference Red Division. The Panthers lost to St. Teresa’s Academy in the Class 4 District 15 title game.

Elley recorded a team-high for kills with 291, while adding 288 digs and 35 service aces. The latter two totals ranked second for the Panthers, and she ended up just one dig off the team lead. Since the school’s opening in 1998, Park Hill South has had 14 selections to the MHSVCA all-state teams.
