Westbrook with another double-double in Park Hill South girls win

Another game for Park Hill South, another double-double tallied from standout freshman Alecia Westbrook. The 6-foot-1 forward put up 22 points and 12 rebounds in a 47-34 win against Oak Park on Monday, Jan. 4 at Park Hill South High School. The 22 points is a new career-high for Westbrook, who is averaging 14.2 rebounds and 15.4 points through the Panthers’ first nine games.

Westbrook has led the Panthers in both points and rebounds in eight of nine games and has double-doubles in seven of nine.

Entering a Monday, Jan. 11 home game against Park Hill, Park Hill South owns a 6-3 record, including two straight wins. The Panthers went 7-19 a year ago with a pair of losses to Park Hill.

Against Oak Park, Park Hill South shot just 32 percent from the field, and no other player reached double figures. Raquel Reid, a sophomore guard, and seniors Leah Booth and Mayleigh Oder scored five points apiece.

Park Hill South led 19-14 at halftime and outscored the Lady Oakies 19-13 in the fourth quarter, including a 9-3 run, to make the winning margin comfortable.

Oder hit four free throws to spark the run, and junior guard Emily Dinovo hit the Panthers’ only 3-pointer.
