With the biggest game of the season to date looming, one of the Kansas City Chiefs’ biggest stars was arrested in Platte County last Sunday night.According to the Riverside Police Department, Chiefs All-Pro wide receiver Dwayne Bowe was arrested and charged with speeding and possession of a controlled substance after his vehicle was stopped shortly before midnight Nov. 10. Bowe and another man in the car were arrested, posted bond, were released and ordered to appear in Riverside municipal court Dec. 18. As news of Bowe’s arrest spread, the Riverside PD was swamped with phone calls from not only media outlets in the Kansas City metro area, but nationwide. “It’s been crazy,” Riverside PD Administrative Assistant Holly Phillips said. “We have taken calls from NFL Network, ESPN and other media outlets from around the country.” According to a press release issued by the Riverside PD Tuesday morning, an officer using radar to check for speeding vehicles stopped Bowe’s 2011 Audi A8 in Riverside after it registered a speed of 48 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone.
