Baylor Cox knocked in a rebound to give Platte County a 1-0 overtime win on the road Monday night.
Grain Valley and the Pirates played to a goalless draw after regulation, but forward Paul Testorff dribbled through three defenders and took the shot that led to the golden goal in the first overtime at Grain Valley High School. The Eagles blocked his attempt, but it fell to Cox, who slammed the loose ball home.
Bailey Ridge and Ethan Leftridge combined to earn the shutout for the Pirates, who improved to 4-2 on the season.

Eddie Jackson scored for the Indians to clinch the win Sept. 4 at Pirate Stadium. Central’s Brendan Ryan earned the shutout, making 7 saves.
Platte County 7, Kearney 1
Cox and Testorff both tallied hat tricks in the win Sept. 2 at Pirate Stadium. The pair of forwards helped the Platte County offense tally its high for goals in a single game this season.
In addition to Testorff’s hat trick, he also added assists on each of Cox’s goals.
Cox scored the first three goals of the game before Testorff took over after halftime. The forward added his goals to bring the advantage to 6-0. Chandler Peterson tallied a seventh for the before a late consolation goal for the Bulldogs.
Blue Springs South 2, Park Hill 0
The Trojans dropped their regular season opener Sept. 4 at Blue Springs South High School in Blue Springs, Mo. to fall to 2-2 on the season. Park Hill started the season with a 2-1, third-place showing in the Liberty Kickoff before falling to the Jaguars. Park Hill opens at home season Sept. 10 with a match against St. Joseph Central at Park Hill South High School.

Ryan DiBernadio scored a goal in the second overtime to give the Panthers a win Sept. 2. Jonathan Main and Evan Morrow combined on the shutout.
