A disturbance inside the McDonald’s in Platte City led to the discovery of drugs and landed a Liberty, Mo. man in jail.
According to a probable cause statement, Platte City Police Department officers arrested Justin Ross, 33, just after 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11. They responded to the McDonald’s on reports of a physical altercation, and upon investigation and review of surveillance footage, determined that Ross had placed his arm around the throat of an unnamed female victim and wrestled her to the ground while choking her.
Ross then stood up and ran toward the bathroom.
A witness followed and observed possible narcotics in and around the toilet, which Ross claimed were two Viagra pills. An officer also observed a clear baggie with moose print on it containing a clear crystal substance next to the toilet, which a preliminary test indicated positive for methamphetamine.
Surveillance footage confirmed Ross as the only person to enter the bathroom after it was cleaned by a employee that morning.
Ross remains in custody at the Platte County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash-only bond. He faces a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor for domestic assault, which carry a potential punishment of up to 11 years in prison.
