Park Hill South golf duo just misses medals in opening tournament

Park Hill South and Park Hill showed signs of early rust in the season-opening Truman Invitational on Monday, March 23 at Drumm Farm Golf Course in Independence, Mo. Park Hill South finished in sixth place out of 20 in the final team standings, 38 strokes behind champion Rockhurst and the Hawklets’ duo of Rod Enright and Joseph Krebs, who both shot 4-over 76 to tie for top individual honors. Rockhurst’s Ethan Packel grabbed the third slot with a 5-over 77.

Two golfers for Park Hill South missed the medalist cut by one stroke. Tanner Owen, a junior and two-time qualifier for the Class 4 Missouri State Golf Championships, and Jake Carpenter shot an 11-over 83 to tie for 17th. The top 15, including ties received medals.

Jason Cunningham (89) and Noah Pennell (90) rounded out the four scores that counted toward the Panthers’ team total of 345.

Park Hill finished ninth with a 363 team score. Kris Snodgrass led the Trojans with a 13-over 85 — tied for 20th — while Jordan Lashbrook, the lone returning sectional qualifier from a year ago, finished 24th with a 15-over 87. Tim Cashion (92) and Davin Dorrell (99) rounded out Park Hill’s top four.
