The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) closed a boat launch ramp on the Platte River at the Sharp’s Station Access due to flood damage. The ramp had not been announced as open as of Tuesday, June 16 with moderate flooding again forecasted for the river. The access is located east of Platte City off of Interurban Road in Platte County.
Recent heavy rains saturated the area and led to moderate flooding on that portion of the Platte River. Water levels returned to normal last week, which revealed the damage caused. The ramp was closed on Thursday, June 11.
More rain returned the river at Sharp’s Station to the moderate flood level, and it was expected to crest at 31 feet on Tuesday, June 16 — just 2 feet short of the major flood stage. At Tracy, the river was expected to flirt with moderate flood level on Tuesday afternoon with a projected crest of 25.1 feet.
Three other MDC ramps on the Platte River in Platte County remain open — the Schimmel City Access and two ramps at the Platte Falls Conservation Area.
