West Platte's Cicha places 2nd in unique cross country race

West Platte opened the season in the unique Cass-Midway 2-mile meet on Wednesday, Aug. 26. This marks the only meet on the schedule where the Bluejays don’t run the standard cross country distance. Daniel Cicha placed second in 11 minutes, 38 seconds, leading West Platte to a second-place finish. The Bluejays finished with 46 points, 19 back of first-place Kansas City Lutheran’s winning total of 27.

Andrew Cicha came in fourth (11:53), while Max Davies made his varsity debut with another top-10 finish. He finished at 12:00 flat and placed seventh.

Lorena Cavuoti, West Platte’s lone full-time girls runner, placed 22nd.

West Platte now goes idle on meets until the St. Mary’s Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 5 in Liberty, Mo. North Platte opened the season in Maryville on Tuesday, Sept. 1, but results were not available at The Citizen’s deadline. The Panthers will also be at St. Mary’s.

Platte County, Park Hill and Park Hill South all start the season on Saturday, Sept. 5. The Pirates and Trojans will run the Liberty Invitational, while the Panthers will travel to the St. Thomas Aquinas Invitational.
