Platte County beat three of four foes on Tuesday, Sept. 8 in North Kansas City, Mo. with one event win. The Pirates defeated Winnetonka, Oak Park and North Kansas City with John Cogdill winning the 200 individual medley in 2:10.80, shaving more than a second off his previous personal best. He remained about 5 seconds off of a state qualifying standard in the event.
Staley went 4-0 on the day to top the team field.
Platte County’s Bryce Bearden came in second in the 1-meter diving competition behind Staley’s Alex Banning. The Pirates’ 200 freestyle relay also came in as runner-up to Staley with Cogdill, Josh Richardson, Caden DeLay and Nick Kunels posting a 1:41.65.
