Park Hill South quickly returned to winning ways after an enforced break due to illness during a triangular Platte County hosted at Platte County Community Center North in Platte City. With a sweep of the three relays, the Panthers also claimed a second state qualifying time in the process. The 200 yard medley team of Daniel Miller, Tyler Dunn, Isaac Lee and Cody Beeler hit the mark, winning the event in 1 minute, 45.62 seconds.
Park Hill South won 8 of 12 events with the hosts winning the other four.
Miller won two individual events — the 100 breaststroke (1:05.32) and the 50 freestyle (23.28) — and Beeler added a win in the 500 freestyle (5:29.77). Ben Milbourn topped the 100 backstroke field (1:01.08), and Conner Morris came in first in the 200 freestyle (2:00.50) to round out the individual winners for the Panthers, who topped Platte County 164-125 in the most competitive dual.
Platte County remains on the hunt for another state qualifier.
Justin Richardson, a senior, qualified for the Missouri State Swimming and Diving Championships earlier in the month at the Platte County Invitational in diving. He again won the event at the triangular, besting teammate Bryce Bearden by 5½ points as the only entrants.
Platte County’s John Cogdill (200 IM, 2:11.21), Nick Kunels (100 freestyle, 53.62) and Justin Richardson (100 butterfly, 58.32) were the other winners the Pirates, who easily bested St. Joseph Central.
