An area of road construction between the Platte City and Weston exits led to a pair of accidents on Friday, Nov. 15.
The first accident happened at 11 a.m. when Melissa A. Stephenson, 51, of Atchison, Kan., struck the back of a tractor-trailer rig driven by Jesse L. Barremore, 27, of Harvard, Idaho.
Both vehicles were traveling northbound and Barremore slowed due to traffic congestion ahead of him when Stephenson’s 2008 Toyota Rav4 struck it.
Stephenson sustained minor injuries and was transported to North Kansas City Hospital.
The Platte City Police Department assisted the Missouri State Highway Patrol in working the accident.
The second accident injured a Dearborn woman.
Brenda K. Bledsoe, 70, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet when she struck the rear of a 2018 Nissan driven by Gary L. Smith 64, of Kansas City at 3:30 p.m. in the northbound lane of I-29 at mile marker 18.6.
Bledsoe had minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to North Kansas City Hospital.
PEDESTRIAN HIT ON I-29
A Kansas City man was seriously injured when he was struck by a car on Monday, Nov. 11.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Taylor J. Everitt, 23, was on the exit ramp from NW Barry Road onto Interstate 29 southbound when he was hit.
A 2011 Ford Escape driven by Robin G. Robbins, 66, of Kansas City, struck Everitt as he was merging onto I-29. Everitt was transported by ambulance to North Kansas City Hospital.
