A Kansas City, Kan. man remains in custody in the Platte County Detention Center after he was caught with both a stolen car and drugs at Argosy Casino in Riverside last month.
Salavador Dominguez, 37, was arrested Wednesday, Jan. 17 at the casino. Riverside police located a stolen 2003 Jeep Liberty in the casino parking lot that day and worked with casino security to locate the driver, who was at a slot machine on the game floor. The Jeep had been reported stolen out of Kansas City in Jackson County at the end of December 2017. Riverside police, with assistance from casino security and the Missouri Highway Patrol, surrounded Dominguez on the casino floor.
He attempted to run but was quickly captured. According to court documents, police located baggies containing a suspicious substance in Dominguez’ jacket pocket, which later tested positive for methamphetamines. When asked if he was okay, Dominguez allegedly told police he was a “meth head” and that he was “really high.” A Chrysler key was also located in his pocket and it was later discovered the ignition on the stolen Jeep had been changed. A stolen Kansas license plate was also located in the vehicle.
Dominguez, who has an extensive criminal record for drug-related offenses and theft, claimed he had been given the vehicle by a woman named “Jo-Jo” in Kansas City, Kan. Jo-Jo allegedly asked Dominguez to detail the vehicle and return it to her, but he had decided to drive the car until then.
Dominguez is charged with felony stealing and felony possession of a controlled substance. He also faces an active felony warrant from Kansas for parole violation. Currently, he is in custody in Platte County on a $15,000 cash only bond. A bond reduction hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 20 before Platte County Circuit Court Judge Ann Hansbrough.
