In the aftermath of another successful season for the Park Hill South football team, a pact of Panthers did enough on the gridiron to be rewarded with honors.
Senior quarterback and skills’ player Briggs Bartosh – who started the season playing running back and receiver before taking over the offense at the midway point and leading the Panthers to a district championship for the second straight year – was the only all-state selection on offense. Bartosh was also one of four finalists for the Thomas A. Simone Award, which is given to the best football player in all of Kansas City, while also being a first-team all-district quarterback and unanimous first team athlete in the conference. The 5’11, 185-pound Panther broke a few program records – averaging 11.2 yards per rush and recording 512 total yards and six total touchdowns in one single game – with 2,904 total yards and 30 total touchdowns.
Mason Love was a first-team punter in the state and district while being a unanimous vote in the Silver Division as a punter and a second-team selection as a kicker. Love made 28 PATs throughout the season.
Park Hill South defensive lineman Jah’Marion Kane was the only Panther defender to be a Class 6 All-State player after posting 63.5 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, 10 sacks and one forced fumble. Kane’s impressive outing put him on the first team in the Silver Division and Class 6 District 4 Tournament.
Darrien Jones was the Panthers’ top running back, rushing for 1,261 yards and 10 touchdowns, while having 31 catches for 273 yards and three scores. Jones was a first-team all-conference and district honorable mention.
Dylan Love was the final Panther to be a first team selection in both the conference and the district after the defensive back led the team with 115 tackles, 97 solo tackles and 36 assisted tackles. Grant Dunaway was a first-team all-conference and second-team all-district offensive lineman, while Max Gerken was a second-team selection in both.
Senior Mike Lane was the top vertical threat for Park Hill South, bringing in 39 receptions for 575 yards and six scores. Lane was a Silver Division Honorable Mention and Class 6 District 4 Second Team wide receiver.
Kiros Martin was an honorable mention in the conference and second team selection in the district. Martin had 52.5 tackles, seven sacks, one safety and one forced fumble.
Park Hill South linebacker Kadin Sabree posted 38 tackles and three pass break ups to be a Silver Division Second Team selection. Defensive backs Troy Mosby, Marcel Milner and Jayvius Smith were all Silver Division Honorable Mentions.
Ben Schneider and Elias Contraras were both honorable mentions in the conference on the offensive line, while Jordon Hilsinger made it on the defensive line. Rogdryk Guillory brought in 17 receptions for 369 yards and three scores and tight end Marcus Parker caught his only target of the regular season for six yards as both skill players were Silver Division Honorable Mentions.
