The West Platte Blue Jays’ cross country teams are gearing up for the postseason and will host the KCI Conference race this Saturday, Oct. 19, at Platte Ridge Park.
Both teams competed at the Kearney Invitational this past Saturday, Oct. 11, at Jesse James Park. Freshman Katherine Carletti led the way for the ladies with a time of 22:35.1, which was good for 54th place, followed by fellow freshman Jersey O’Neal, who finished 54th with a time of 22:38.6, and junior Payton Reber finished 60th.
On the guys’ side, junior Noah Rees led the way with a time of 18:17.3, which was good for 64th place, followed by freshman Sam Miller, who finished 84th with a time of 18:51.1, and senior Jonah McGivern, who finished 85th with a time of 18:52.2, and freshman Charles Trease finished 86th, just one-tenth of a second behind McGivern.
At the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia on Sept. 28, Reber led the way for the ladies with a 23rd-place finish with a time of 21:38.6, followed by O’Neal with a time of 22:03.2, which was good for 29th place. Carletti finished 32nd, followed by Addison Bailey, who finished 37th, and Caroline Ransome, who finished 68th.
For the guys, Rees led the way at Gans Creek with a time of 17:59.9, which was good for 16th place, followed by Miller, who finished 26th with a time of 18:29.4, and Trease finished 27th with a time of 18:30.7. Benjamin Pendergast finished 34th, and Wyatt Larsen finished 95th.
