Braces By Billings is celebrating 40 years in business this year. The family owned and operated orthodontic practice has treated generations of patients.
Dr. Steven Billings DDS and Dr. Branson Billings, DDS, MSD have offices at 2000 Kentucky Ave. in Platte City and also in Parkville and Belton.
“Our amazing staff has made the dream of having a beautiful smile and renewed self-confidence real for thousands of patients,” Steven said. Yet, with all that knowledge and experience they still know how to make a visit to the office fun and free of worry. Our most important goal is to provide the very best orthodontic care for you and your family.”
The practice’s patients range in age from children to adults and the dentistry has the treatment technology to fit each patient’s individual needs and goals.
Braces By Billings offers clear, silver and gold braces, self-ligating braces, early interceptive treatment, TMJ treatment and Invisalign clear aligners.
The traditional braces are high-grade stainless steel and with silver braces the patient has the option of adding colored elastics (rubber bands) for a more unique, colorful smile.
The self-ligating braces do not require the use of elastics meaning fewer appointments and less friction placed on the teeth. They use a specialized clip in place of elastics. The clip helps reduce the amount of pressure on the teeth and requires fewer adjustments.
Clear ceramic braces are less visible than metal braces. These braces are used mainly on older teens and adult patients. They require more attention to oral hygiene as they are larger and more brittle.
Other options are clear aligners which are invisible, removable and comfortable acrylic trays that straighten teeth like braces and lingual braces are hidden behind the teeth and customized to match the shape of a patient’s teeth. They are well suited for athletes, models, actors/actresses, musicians who play wind instruments and adult professionals.
Mouthguards are also popular to protect teeth and gums from injury for all sports. “Choosing the right mouthguard is essential,” Steven said. “Be sure to pick one that is tear-resistant, comfortable and well fitted for your mouth, easy to keep clean and does not prevent you from breathing properly.”
The world of orthodontics is expanding and changing at a rapid pace with better results for patients and less discomfort and hassle.
Dr. Steven Billings meets with other professionals in the Tweed Orthodontic Study Group and Mid-Century Dental Study Club to share the latest, most effective treatment methods. He has been selected as one of the top orthodontists in Kansas City for 14 years by Kansas City Magazine.
“I especially enjoy working with children,” Steven said. “I love their personalities and watching them mature and blossom. I also enjoy working with adults to help them achieve the confident smile that they desire and deserve. I love what I’m doing, I love the practice of orthodontics and I could think of no greater line of work that I would rather be doing
