Clippard and Conklin heading to Columbia

Park Hill South will be sending one runner from each team to the Class 5 State Race as Tyler Clippard and Ella Conklin both finished high enough in the district race to keep their seasons alive.

The Lady Panthers finished in 10th place as a girls’ team with 291 points and the Panthers finished in 11th place as a boys’ team with 382 points. The Park Hill South boys’ cross-country team had six runners complete the race in less than 19:00.

Clippard crossed the finish line in 13th place as the senior ended with a time of 16:47. Aidan Seymour missed out on qualifying for state by less than 30 seconds when the sophomore finished with a time of 17:32 in 48th place.

Park Hill South will be sending Tyler Clippard and Ella Conklin, above, to the Class 5 State Meet on Nov. 6.

Tanner Clippard was the next Panther to end the 5K as the sophomore ran the race in 17:52. Samuel Chase completed the race in 18:12 for 66th place and Trentyn Gilges finished his Park Hill South cross-country career with an 18:37 time.

Trevor Owens crossed the finish line with a time of 18:42, ending in 82nd place. Zachary Hilzinger capped off his freshman campaign by ending the 5K in 19:39.

In the girls’ race, Ella Conklin qualified for state when the junior ended in 16th place with a time of 20:31. Mackenzie Wright was the first runner to miss the cut for state, finishing in 31st place with a time of 21:12.

Lauren Bishard crossed the finish line with a time of 21:17, ending in 34th place and Mia James was the 37th runner to finish when the sophomore ended with a time of 21:25. Abigail Kindred ran the 5K in 21:52, Shea Worley finished with a time of 21:58 and Delaney Nash crossed the finish line in 22:07.
