College student with PHS ties dies of COVID

The Park Hill South High School community is paying tribute to an athletic trainer who died of complications of COVID-19.

LeAndra Breann Stang died Sunday, Oct. 18 of complications from the virus.

“Several in our Park Hill South family, particularly those involved in athletics, knew Bre, who was a college student training to be an athletic trainer,” said interim principal Kerrie Herren in a statement released to parents on Monday.

Herren said that counseling services are available to students and staff and a moment of silence was held at a soccer game Monday and will be held Friday, Oct. 23 at the football game.

The district followed guidelines for quarantine direct exposure, according to the statement, and worked with the local health departments when her illness was reported.
