With applications now closed for the county’s CARES-funded small business grant program, commissioners awarded grants to another group of businesses this week.
At the Monday, Aug. 3 meeting of the Platte County Commission, commissioners carved out a separate special meeting prior to the regular administrative session to award the newest round of grants.
Presiding commissioner Ron Schieber announced that during the run of the program, the county received 283 applications requesting $17 million in funding. The county only received around $12 million through the federal CARES act, with $6.6 million of that available for grant funding.
According to a survey conducted last month by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, the Platte County Health Department has requested, but not received, CARES money through the county commission.
