County approves cybersecurity measures

Keeping the county’s emergency radio system safe from malicious actors is the purpose of an agreement approved by county commissioners this week.

At the Monday, Oct. 16 administrative meeting of the Platte County Commission, Capt. Tony Avery presented the agreement with Motorola Solutions for $46,147 for cybersecurity services for the 800 MHZ radio system.

“The more dependent on technology we become, the more threats become exposed,” Avery said. The service will provide around the clock protection for the emergency radio system.

Commissioners also approved an agreement between Platte County and the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) for an emergency management performance grant in the amount of $167,905.

The antenna site lease agreement with the state for the county’s emergency antenna tower at Trimble was also renewed for one year, with two five year renewals, at no cost. The site is one of six sites across the county.
