D-II leagues honor area student-athletes

The Mid-America Athletic Association and Great Lakes Valley Conference released the Academic Honor Roll for the 2017-18 Academic Year.

The MIAA Academic Honor Roll is released at the conclusion of each academic year for all MIAA Student-Athletes in all sports. To be eligible for the Honor Roll, student-athletes must have a grade point average (GPA) used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of at least 3.00 at the certifying member institution. They also have to have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms).

One local athlete, Washburn volleyball player Allison Sadler, made both the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and was given the MIAA Freshmen and Newcomer Scholar-Athlete Award, a list of 108 student-athletes. She is a sophomore from Park Hill South High School and a resident of Parkville.

GPAs for the GLVC awards were not provided by the league.
