Davies takes 1st, Elmore 2nd for West Platte XC in 2-mile opener

West Platte showed off its potential in a special season-opening event last week.

Participating in the Cass-Midway 2-mile, the Bluejays ended up with the boys champion and the girls runnerup. The boys also took the team title, while the girls only had three runners and didn’t have the minimum needed to be in the standings.

Max Davies, a junior, posted a time of 11 minutes, 8 seconds to win by 20 seconds. Phillip Pattison, a sophomore, was fourth, while senior Andrew Cicha was seventh. The three top-10 times allowed West Platte to post a team score of 44 points, seven in front of KC Lutheran for the title.

Lexi Elmore, a sophomore, made her debut for West Platte after transferring from Platte County. She finished second in the girls race (13:54), just a second behind the winner. Sophia Rush, a freshman, was third overall and 22 seconds behind Elmore.

Bella Clark also made her debut and finished 14th.
