The Platte County business community is mourning the loss of the newly-elected chair of the Platte County Economic Development Council.
Carl “Ed” Bradley of Lake Waukomis died Friday Feb. 2. A native of Kansas City, Bradley was former president and CEO of Patriots Bank, now BankLiberty, where he continued his career.
Bradley, 72, was involved as a member of the Platte County EDC since 1999 and currently was serving on the Platte County IDA board and as vice chair of the Twin Creeks KC Landowner Committee. He was also on the board of directors for the Parkville Economic Development Committee.
Bradley’s community involvement was varied, including stints as a volunteer firefighter with Plattsburg and Lake Waukomis, with the American Red Cross, Reach Out America, Northland Chamber of Commerce and the Kansas School of the Blind. He also spearheaded the formation of Perkins Park in Plattsburg, Parkville Downtown Association and Riverside Chamber of Commerce.
A memorial ceremony will be held from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7 at Park University’s Breckon Sports Center in Parkville. Memorial contributions are suggested to Park University School of Business or athletic department.
Bradley is survived by his wife, Peg, children, Amy, Mike (Meredyth), Stephanie, Scott (Kris), Luke (Kinuko) and Meg and grandchildren.
