Mark Hill

The fire district has lost one of its largest patrons with Hill’s death. Shortly after Hill won one-half of the then-second-largest Powerball Lottery jackpot in history — nearly $300 million — in November 2012 he announced he planned to give back to the community in which he grew up.

In 2014 Hill announced his family would fund construction of a new fire and ambulance station off Interurban Road.

The state-of-the-art station, which is shared by the Northland Regional Ambulance District and Camden Point Fire, opened in 2016. Mark and his wife, Cindy, donated $3 million for construction of the 12,800 square foot facility. The station was four times the size of the previous, outdated station.

The Hill family also donated money to the City of Camden Point to help purchase land for a wastewater treatment plant, Camden Point Athletic Association for new ballfields and to the North Platte School District for scholarships, as well as to other local charities.
