Dozens of “racers” got together on Saturday, Aug. 3, to enjoy some fun in downtown Weston and help raise money to help the local charity Farmer’ s House.
Weston’s Celtic Ranch was the host for the third annual Out the Front to the Back 0.08K Race that featured three different heats because of the events popularity.
The first run, which had about 52 “runners,” was held at 10 a.m. with races following at noon and 2 p.m.
Volunteers with Farmer’s House joked with participants before the race about the “grueling” race that took about 30 seconds to complete at a casual pace walk. One volunteer told racers they would have a water station along the route while another told “racers” it was not a competitive event so, “Don’t knock each other over.”
Volunteers held up signs of encouragement along the short track that went south along Main Street and made the turn on Market Street around to the back of the building where a Guinness beer ice cream float and other freebies were waiting.
The event helped raise money for Farmer’s House which sells locally produced goods with proceeds benefitting the developmentally disabled. The organization has a store on Highway 273 outside of Weston and in the downtowns Weston and Platte City.
