A Kansas City man has been charged by the Platte County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office with trafficking multiple women in Platte County after a multi-agency human trafficking sting.
Sean D. Green, 29, of Lee’s Summit, faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of trafficking the women for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
Prosecuting attorney Eric Zahnd said charges were filed Thursday, Oct. 14 following a multi-agency investigation initiated and spearheaded by the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control and the Department of Homeland Security in Platte County. Operation United Front was conducted in late August with support from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Kansas City Police Department and the Riverside Police Department.
“This case began with the rescue of two women during Operation United Front,” Zahnd said. “Fourteen adults were contacted during the operation, and two of those adults were identified as victims of human trafficking. We now allege that the defendant advertised and directed these women to engage in sex acts for his own financial gain.”
According to court documents, the female victims allegedly disclosed that they were routinely sent on “dates” by an individual by the name of “Huss,” an alias used by Green. One woman explained that she would receive text messages from Green directing her to a location, with no knowledge of the details of the commercial sex deal negotiated by Green.
She further stated that he would threaten to kill her if she did not return with the money she received for engaging in the sex acts, and that Green had been physically violent with her on prior occasions.
Court documents further indicate that the Highway Patrol investigation further revealed that the defendant allegedly paid a known sex trafficking website for commercial sex advertisements for five women, including the two victims recovered during the operation in Platte County.
Operation United Front was organized by the Missouri Attorney General’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
“Human and sex trafficking are a scourge on our society, a dark underworld that operates in the shadows across Missouri and the country,” said state attorney general Eric Schmitt. “This case underscores the importance of operations like Operation United Front in rooting out human trafficking. I want to thank our partners at the Missouri State Highway Patrol for continuing to investigate this case, and the Platte County Prosecuting Attorney for filing charges against this individual and working to bring justice in this case.”
Green is being held in the Platte County Detention Facility on $50,000 cash only bond. His case is being prosecuted by assistant prosecuting attorney Kaitlynn Donnelly.
