Shannon Langley, 34, declined to speak to authorities during an interview last month in regards to claims of sexual misconduct with two minors. The Platte County Prosecutor’s Office filed felony charges of first degree statutory sodomy and enticement of a child against him on Friday, March 4.

The charges stem from an alleged August, 2015 incident with two children, ages 7 and 10.
According to court documents, Langley had been living with a woman in Platte County and was left alone with the kids. A Facebook message from the woman’s 10-year-old daughter indicated something was wrong, and upon returning home, the mother was informed that Langley “looked at the privates” of the young girl.

In October, a forensic interview of the victims revealed that Langley “checked her for bugs” after trying to kiss her on the lips. The young girl also revealed similar activity between Langley and her seven-year-old brother, who declined to give details to authorities in the interview according to court documents.

The 10-year-old victim later identified Langley as the man who inappropriately touched her when presented a photo of him.

In January, Langley ended up in the Jackson County Detention Center after being charged with three felony counts of statutory sodomy against other victims. Court documents say the assaults took place at an Independence apartment complex where he lived with Terrah Lasure, his girlfriend that he lived with at the time.

The three incidents cited in the charges took place between September and December in 2015 in the months after he allegedly engaged in sexual misconduct in the Platte County case.

According to court documents, Langley performed sexual acts on the two victims — ages 4 and 9 — in Independence in addition to showing the girls sex toys and asking them to use them. Lasure ended up charged with endangering the welfare of a child, allegedly encouraging some of the acts, telling the victims to keep it a secret and even leaving the house when she knew sexual assaults were taking place.

Langley remains in custody in lieu of a $100,000 cash bond, while Lasure is being held on a $15,000 cash bond.
