A Platte County Detention Center inmate briefly escaped Saturday afternoon, Feb. 17, but was quickly recaptured according to a press release issued from the Platte County Sheriff's Office.
Kenneth Wilson assaulted jail staff, breaking out a piece of security glass and scaling the jail wall a little after 3 p.m.
Wilson was immediately taken into custody by a deputy outside of the detention center. No detention staff members were injured, but Wilson was transported to an area hospital after being taken into custody.
The escapee was in jail on alleged charges of tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.
“The inmate was immediately taken into custody after he scaled the perimeter wall,” Platte County Sheriff Mark Owens said. “Multiple officers and deputies immediately responded to the area in response to this incident. There is no threat to our community at this time.”
The Platte City Police Department provided assistance.
