The Park Hill girls’ golf team is looking to send some players to state and have a more competitive season than last year.
The Lady Trojans are going to be led by a freshman this fall. Makenna Kincheloe is set to be Park Hill’s top golfer in her first year in high school.
“Makenna has been golfing for quite awhile, she’s come out in the summer and has put in a lot of work,” Park Hill head girls’ golf coach Rebecca Hart said. “She’s dedicated to the sport, and I think that is going to help her be successful, and she has a lot of maturity even though she’s a freshman.”
Park Hill’s two top returners are junior Reagan Bell and senior Maggie Hosking. The upperclassmen are going to fill out the number two and number three spots.
“Reagan as well has worked so hard in the offseason and has been in a lot of tournaments this summer and has been working hard at the range and at practices. She’s falling in love with golf, and she’s only been golfing since her freshman year,” Hart said.
Rounding out the Park Hill varsity are juniors Rhea Akula and Kate Martorana, along with freshman Ruby Bell – who is Reagan Bell’s younger sister. Layni Grego is a junior and hasn’t played a ton of organized golf, but is from a golf family, and is looking to add depth to the Lady Trojans.
“We’re going to win matches this year and we’re going to be a data driven and goal-oriented team. They all have attainable goals that they want to work for and in golf, everything is so measurable and then we can move up and get better,” Hart said.
Park Hill will also have two more seniors, Elyssa Waple and Cara Kaminski. Those two have stepped up as leaders for a Park Hill squad that has high hopes for the fall.
