At the Staley Relays, the Park Hill, Platte County and Park Hill South girls’ track and field teams finished back-to-back-to-back in third, fourth and fifth places on April 1.
Kearney and Staley finished in the top-2 in the girls’ competition when the Bulldogs ended with 95.95 points and the Falcons ended with 94.96 points. Park Hill earned third place with 89.91 points, while Platte County finished in fourth place with 73.94 points, followed by Park Hill South in fifth place with 65.41 points.
There were medley relays at the meet where each leg wouldn’t necessarily run the same distance, including one when the first two legs ran 100 meters, then the third leg ran 200 meters, and the anchor ran 400 meters. In that relay, the Pirates ended in fourth place in 2:02.3, the Trojans ended in seventh place in 2:05.38 and the Panthers ended in eighth place in 2:08.4.
Platte County won the 4X200-200-400-800-meter medley relay with a time of 4:31.62. Park Hill ended in fifth place in 5:12.43 and Park Hill South finished in seventh place in 5:26.59.
In the 4X1,200-400-800-1,600-meter medley relay, Park Hill, Platte County and Park Hill South finished in that order from fourth to sixth places. The Panthers earned third place in the 4X100 shuttle hurdles’ relays with a time of 1:15.85, followed by the Trojans in fifth place in 1:15.93.
The Trojans were 4X100-meter relay champs with a time of 50.48 seconds, while the Pirates earned fourth place in 52.71 seconds. Park Hill and Platte County also finished back-to-back in second and third places in the 4X200-meter relay, before earning third and fourth places in the 4X800-meter relay.
Park Hill sophomore Natalie Gerdes was the 1,600-meter champion when the Trojan runner crossed the finish line ahead of all 19 runners with a time of 5:42.74. Ava Sullivan earned eighth place and Edie Fink ended in 14th place, while Park Hill South’s Lauren Bishard ended in sixth place and Ella Sias finished in 18th place.
Judy Elful was a silver medalist in the 300-meter hurdles when the junior Panther completed the race in 48.78 seconds, followed by Trojan sophomore Mackenzie Moretina in third place with a time of 49.47 seconds. Park Hill’s Akunna Nwasoria and Londyn Cage finished in 12th and 13th places, with times of 56.87 seconds and 57.16 seconds.
Kennedy Justice crossed the finish line in 57.63 seconds for the Panthers, ending in 14th place. Platte County’s Alaeyah Chleborad ended in 17th place in the 300-meter hurdles.
Pirate junior Joslyn Hupp slung the shot put 9.88 meters to earn fourth place, while her freshman teammate – Addyson Schlake – had an 8.02 heave to finish in 21st place. For the Panthers, Tatum Kells tied for seventh place with a 9.11 meter throw and Isabella Patton earned 13th place with an 8.77 meter fling.
Park Hill had back-to-back shot putters end in 18th and 19th places when Ella Bradley and Peyton Durrer had 8.26 and 8.14 meter throws. Emily Woelk earned sixth place and Kiley Braun finished in 11th place in the javelin.
Park Hill South’s Abby Fox ended in third place when the junior launched the javelin 29.98 meters, while Reagan Kelley had a 25.52 meter heave to earn seventh place. Patton threw the discus 27.63 meters, good for fifth place, followed by Kells and Katie Jones in 13th and 14th places.
Schlake earned fourth place in the discus when the Pirate freshman had a 27.85 meter heave, while Hupp slung the discus 27.49 meters to finish in sixth place. Reese Pickett impressed in the jumping events, finishing in top-3 in the long, triple and high jump.
Pickett earned second place in the high jump with a leap of 1.47 meters, third place in the long jump with a 4.96 meter hop and third place in the triple jump with a length of 9.89 meters. Kenzie Palmer ended in second place in the triple jump with a leap of 9.99 meters. Payton Stadel and Jaidyn Webb ended in sixth and seventh places in the long jump with hops of 4.54 meters and 4.52 meters.
Park Hill senior Lauren Carpenter broke the program record in the pole vault when the Trojan vaulted 3.37 meters, earning the gold medal in the event. Freshman Grace Hodge and senior Claire Williams weren’t too far behind, tying in sixth place with 2.13 meters.
Brooke Boehm won the high jump with a height of 1.52 meters, then earned second place in the long jump with a leap of 5.05 meters and Hannah Richei’s 4.12 meter jump was good for ninth place. Emily Pella’s 4.56 meter jump was good for fifth place in the long jump, while her leap of 9.74 earned fourth place in the triple jump.
Panther senior Catie Tejeda was the gold medalist in the triple jump when she hopped 10.38 meters. Kennendy Justice jumped 9.13 meters for 10th place and sophomore Zoey Jones ended in 12th place with an 8.83 meter leap.
