The Platte County Invitational was won by the host as the Lady Pirate girls’ swimming team finished in first place with 532 points on Dec. 18.
Platte County won with ease – the second place team was nearly 200 points behind the winner - with Raymore-Peculiar being the closest with 343 points. The Pirates had three relay teams finish in the top-2 of their respected competition.
The Platte County 200-yard medley relay team consisted of Madeline Stone, Drew Delay, Meridith Ballou and Brooklynn Hays and finished in first place with a time of 2:01.37 and the same four Pirates were on the first place 200-yard freestyle relay team that finished in 1:47.75. The 400-yard freestyle relay team finished in second place with a time of 4:35.25 with Jayden Benninghoff, Erian Stone, Ella Chiddix and Madeline Judy.
Blair Bolling was the third swimmer to finish in the 200-yard freestyle when she ended the competition in 2:17.84. Charlotte Hammond was 12 seconds behind Bolling to finish in fourth place.
Ballou won the 200-yard individual medley and Stone was in second place with times of 2:22.21 and 2:27.28, respectively. Ballou also won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:05.45, followed by Ireland Shank, Hammond and Emilee Handke finishing in fourth, fifth and sixth places.
Hays and Delay were both top-4 finishers in the 100-yard freestyle when each completed the race in under one minute. Stone completed the 100-yard backstroke in 1:07.58, which was the fastest time in the race.
In the 100-years breaststroke, Delay finished in second place with a time of 1:12.11 and Hays finished in third place with a time of 1:13.26. Chiddix finished in fifth place with a time of 1:27.56.
