Local golfers gain experience at state

Platte County’s Logan Hessemeyer moved up 15 spots from his finish as a freshman to earn 70th place in the Class 3 MSHSAA State Golf Championships held Monday, May, 14 and Tuesday, May 15 at Old Kinderhook in Camdenton, Mo.

The sophomore carded a second-day 21-over 93 on the par-72 course to fall from his day one 36th position.

Hessemeyer finished two strokes better than last season.

“He learned some valuable lessons today,” Platte County coach Trevor Short said. “He gained some valuable experience at the state meet and I think it will serve him well. I think he learned he has to stay in the moment and worry about what is happening instead of what has already happened.”
