The public is invited and encouraged to attend on open meeting Tuesday, Sept. 10 to review and comment on draft alternatives of the Rising Star Park Master Plan.
The meeting will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m, in the community room of the Platte City Civic Center, 308 Zed Martin Street. The meeting will be a walk in format allowing participants to stop by and participate any time during the meeting.
The purpose of the workshop is to hear community reaction, advice and guidance based on a review of two alternative park master plans concepts, with several options available for each plan. The purpose of the plan is to identify and prioritize park amenities that can be built out as funds are available over the next 20 years.
Possible amenities include aquatic features (splash pad, municipal pool); gym/playing court building, inclusive play areas, picnic shelters, restroom facilities, walking paths, outdoor exercise areas and outdoor activity areas (pickleball, small scale soccer area). As it is not possible to include all amenities in the available parks space, the master plan comments will help identify preferred amenities and development priorities.
The two conceptual plans show alternatives for a long term park build out. At current funding levels, completing a master plan with multiple large scale amenities will be completed in phases over the next 20 years.
