Murder trial put on hold

Pompa-Rascon

The trial of accused murderer Arnoldo Pompa-Rascon has been delayed for the next six months.

The illegal immigrant is facing charges of murder and armed criminal action in Platte County, as well as charges in Clay and Jackson counties.

On June 10, the case was suspended for the time being after a mental evaluation deemed him to be unfit to stand trial or attains the ‘mental fitness’ to proceed in the foreseeable future.

In six months the director of mental health is to report of any changes to Pompa-Rascon.

During an interview with the police last May, with the help of Spanish interpreter, he stated the ‘voices’ told him who to shoot but he decided with his heart who is bad and who to shoot, according to court documents.

He is accused of killing Russell James Fisk on May 11, 2018 near NW Barry Road and Marston Avenue. Fisk’s car ended up near the entrance for Savers thrift store. The owner of a tattoo shop at Zona Rosa, Fisk died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Pompa-Rascon, 42, was taken into custody in Jackson County on May 15.
