After two months of renovation and redecoration a new auto service business is set to open at 213 Branch St. in Platte City on Sunday, March 15.
Sheri’s Auto Services will be operated by manager, Sheri Mauck, and her boyfriend Pat McManus. Her son Aaron Tripp will be in charge of the auto services. McManus’ son is also interested in becoming part of the team eventually.
Mauck is excited about the new venture and described it as a new beginning and very different from what she did before when she worked in a chiropractor’s practice in Kansas City.
“My boyfriend and son have always kind of dabbled in auto repair and I’m interested in it too so we started looking for possible locations in the area to start our own business,” Mauck said.
Although they first were thinking of doing auto servicing on the side, when McManus found the building on Branch Street and it had everything they were looking for they knew it was exactly what they wanted and they began renting it in January.
McManus went to school in Platte City and knows the area very well.
“We all just really like the location,” Mauck said. “Pat was looking for something that was available with a good price so this is the perfect location with lots of people going by. We’ve had so many people stop in and talk to us and they are really excited for us to open. We tell them we’ll be open soon and to please come back.”
The business is not at this point carrying inventory but through their connection with O’Reilly’s Auto Parts and Tire Town they will be able to get what customers need quickly and easily.
The front office has been totally remodeled. It was covered in a metallic surface and they sheetrocked over it and put in a new ceiling. McManus created a new center office ceiling light fixture that is made from a bicycle tire encircled by old license plates from different states.
There will be three bays in the auto repair garage and they will start with doing basic work such as oil changes and tire repair. Eventually they would like to do detailing work and other services.
The grand opening will be Sunday, March 15 and will include a car and motorcycle show, food and raffles. The store will be open Mondays through Saturdays.
Mauck is looking forward to a short commute from her home to Platte City after spending an hour a day driving when she worked in Kansas City. She is also eager to meet and get to know local residents and running a business with her family.
“This will be a new experience in a new town for me, but I really like Platte City and I think it’s a really good place to have a business,” Mauck said.
