North Platte swept a doubleheader with DeKalb and St. Joseph Christian on Saturday, April 8 at Dean Park in Dearborn, Mo.
A first-year program, Christian scored three in the top of the first and held a 3-0 lead until the third inning. The Panthers put up one in that frame and then added eight in the fourth to take the lead for good in a 10-4 victory.
Garrett Lamar, Caine Huffman and Austin Snook all drove in two runs. Snook recovered from the shaky first inning and pitched 6 1/3 innings to earn the win. Jacob Oliver came on in relief to finish the seventh after Christian put up one more run.
North Platte scored a 21-9 win against DeKalb in just five innings.
Down 6-4, North Platte scored 17 runs in a marathon fourth inning. Trevor Lamar and Remington Wilson had three hits apiece, while Huffman had a double and a triple and drove in three runs. Trevor Lamar had three singles and four RBIs.
Only four of North Platte’s runs were earned, and the Panthers drew seven walks to go with 13 hits. DeKalb committed seven errors.
North Platte 7, Plattsburg 5
The Panthers built a 7-1 lead and then held on for a KCI Conference win Thursday, April 6 in Plattsburg, Mo.
Trevor Lamar had three hits, including North Platte’s lone double, and drove in two and scored two. Wilson and Snook also recorded two RBIs apiece.
North Platte had nine singles and walked three times, slowly building its lead with single runs in the third and fourth and two runs in both the fifth and sixth. Garrett Lamar gave up four runs in the bottom of the sixth with Snook coming on to finish the inning and the game with a two-inning save.
