North Platte volleyball topples Hamilton for KCI win

North Platte won a second straight — this one in KCI Conference play. On Thursday, Sept. 14, the Panthers earned a sweep in a trip to Hamilton, Mo., scoring their first league win since beating the Hornets a year ago.

With the win, North Platte improved to 2-15-1 and 1-1 in KCI play entering a Thursday, Sept. 21 match at Lawson.

North Platte — coming in off a win over South Holt three days earlier — received nine kills each from McKenzie Brockhoff and Kelsey Reynolds in the 25-21, 25-22 victory. Brockhoff added six digs, while freshman setter Tatum Green put up 15 assists.

Bri Bridger led North Platte’s defense at the net with two blocks.

West Platte 2, Lathrop 0

Ciara Davies led a balanced offense in an important KCI sweep for the Bluejays on Thursday, Sept. 14 in Lathrop, Mo.

Faith Stevens, a sophomore, provided all 22 assists from her setter spot in a 25-21, 25-23 win. Sam Rotterman (four kills), Tori Norman (three kills) and Daire Stelljes (three kills) followed Davies on the stat sheet.

Emily Norman, a senior, continued her strong defensive play for West Platte with four digs and no ballhandling errors.

West Platte had won five of six entering a Tuesday, Sept. 19 matchup with Lone Jack (result not available at The Citizen’s deadline) and an important KCI matchup with Mid-Buchanan on Thursday, Sept. 21.

West Platte 2, South Harrison 0

The Bluejays earned a 25-12, 25-8 sweep in a break from nonconference action Tuesday, Sept. 12 in Bethany, Mo.

Davies (six kills) and Rotterman (five kills) led the offense while Stevens (five aces) and Stelljes (four aces) topped West Platte’s strong service effort. The Bluejays recorded 13 aces total.
