MOUND CITY – The North Platte girls’ cross-country team had two of the first three runners who crossed the finish line en route to winning the Mound City Invite on Oct. 3.
Chloe Heckman walked away with a first-place finish more than one minute faster than the second-place finisher. The sophomore crossed the finish line in 20:16.49.
Brianna DeBord earned third place with a time of 22:16.65. Her sister, Annabell DeBord, claimed eighth place in 24:01.54.
Allyson Smith took 15th place in 27:43.51 and Lily Schaffart was two places and 3.07 seconds behind her. The North Platte boys also had the first-place runner and had three of the top-6.
Noah Heckman won the race by more than 20 seconds, crossing the finish line in 17:42.99. Drake Keraus and Mark Humes took fourth and sixth places with times of 18:22.62 and 19:29.36, respectively.
Devin Navarro barley finished in front of the 14th place runner, completing the 5K in 20:38.39. Jackson Cassity took 20th place in 21:20.38 and Brenden Matt earned 25th place with a time of 21:49.74.
Jase Smith finished with a time of 22:29.68, good for 30th place. Glen Christiansen wrapped up the day for the Panthers when he crossed the finish line in 27:29.4.
North Platte will compete in the KCI Conference Meet and Class 2 District 4 Meet at Platte Ridge Park ahead of state. Conference will be on Oct. 14 and districts will be on Oct. 28.
