Panthers, Blue Jays football earn postseason honors

After a historical season by the North Platte football team, multiple athletes earned postseason awards, along with West Platte bringing home some honors.

North Platte senior wideout Kaden Mullendore was the only all-state player from the two schools as he was a third-team selection. Mullendore had 29 receptions for 622 yards and nine touchdowns and was also a first team selection in the KCI Conference and the Class 1 District 8 Tournament.

Mullendore also played safety on defense and his 68 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and two interceptions helped him earn KCI Honorable Mention. Panther linebacker Chance Garber stuffed the stat sheet with 137 tackles – including 29 tackles for loss – 11 quarterback hurries, six sacks, three recovered fumbles, two forced fumbles and two interceptions to be a first team selection in the conference and the district.

Liam Servaes was a menace on the ground in his junior campaign, rushing for 578 yards on 101 carries – averaging 5.72 yards per rushing attempts – and nine rushing touchdowns, along with one receiving touchdown. The Panther running back was a first team all-conference and second team all-district selection, while also earning a KCI Honorable Mention as a linebacker after posting 60 tackles, eight tackles for loss and one interception.

North Platte junior Liam Servaes rushed for 578 yards on 101 carries and had nine rushing touchdowns this season to earn a spot on the a first team all-conference and second team all-district teams.

North Platte offensive guard Hayden Gibson made the KCI Conference Second Team after helping leading the team to 1,598 rushing and 784 passing yards. Defensively, Gibson had 63 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and two sacks to be a first-team all-district and second-team all-conference defensive end. 

Quarterback and safety Colton Kirkham was a KCI Honorable Mention on both sides of the ball, along with being an all-district second team quarterback. Kirkham finished his junior season with 779 rushing yards, 673 passing yards, eight rushing touchdowns and six passing touchdowns.

Defensive tackle Jesse Williams had 70 tackles – 20 of which were for a loss – along with four sacks and one interception, while defensive end Seth Cruz had 70 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, two sacks and two forced fumbles. They were both KCI Conference Honorable Mentions, while Cruz also was a second team selection in the district.

Cruz was an offensive guard and was involved in the offense, with six successful 2-point conversions and one rushing touchdown. He was an honorable mention in the conference on offense.

For West Platte, Peyson Chandler was a first team all-district tight end and a KCI Honorable Mention on both sides of the ball. He had 70 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, two sacks and two forced fumbles on defense, along with 44 catches for 510 yards and eight touchdowns on offense.

Lane Scott was a second-team selection on both sides of the ball in the KCI Conference, while being a first-team selection as a defensive end in the Class 1 District 8 Tournament. Scott was a three-year starter on the offensive and defensive lines and led the Blue Jays with 71 tackles this season, along with 15 tackles for loss, six sacks and two broken up passes.

Quarterback Kane Cogan and wide receiver Dalton Woodard were second team all-district players. Cogan ended the season with 1,042 yards and seven touchdowns.

West Platte had running back Afton Buckler, kicker Alex Allison, defensive back Cohen Kite and punter Xavier Reynolds were named to the second team in the KCI Conference. Will Shafer and McClain Zendejas were both academic all-state athletes.
