The North Platte Panthers’ football team’s incredible run through the post season came to an end with a 35-13 defeat to Class 1 District 4 champion and top seed Penney Hornets on Friday, Nov. 22, in Hamilton.
The Hornets jumped out to a 14-0 lead before the Panthers answered with their own touchdown. The game got away in the second half and North Platte trailed 35-7 late but the Panthers kept fighting and scored a touchdown on the last play of the game.
The Panthers have been road warriors since Oct. 11 in Week 7. North Platte began the post season run with a convincing 26-6 win over the district’s No. 2 seed Milan before going on the road again and beating the No. 3 seed Putnam County 15-14. The Panthers also dropped a regular season matchup with the Hornets 41-7 at home on Sept. 27. The Panthers also got a 26-20 win in Week 3 at home versus Lathrop.
