The Park Hill girls’ tennis team finished in fourth place overall in the Class 3 State Tennis Tournament, while the Park Hill South doubles team of Sydney Dial and Vivien Hamilton finished in eighth place.
The Panther duo qualified for Class 3 Sectionals as a doubles team but fell short against the MICDS (Mary Institute and Saint Louis Country Day School) doubles team of Rachel Li and Mikaela Mikulec. Dial and Hamilton lost 2-0 to the Rams doubles team in sectionals on Oct. 14.
Park Hill’s Audrey Lynn qualified for the singles tournament for the first time in her Trojan career. The junior took down Sophie Chang from Marquette (St. Louis) 2-0 in sectionals, before falling to Rock Bridge’s Maggie Lin 2-0 in the quarterfinals.
Park Hill made its first final four appearance since 1997, taking on MICDS (15-4) in the semifinals on Oct. 23. The Trojans lost 5-0 to the Rams, losing every match on Oct. 23 at Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, MO.
Sydney Robertson and Lynn put up a fight against their doubles opponent, but ultimately lost 8-5. Madison Whalen and Kathryn Miller went scoreless in their doubles match, while Elizabeth Ericksen and Ceselie Petrillo fell short by a score of 8-1.
In the third-place match, Park Hill took on St. Teresa’s Academy (15-3) and the Stars came out on top over the Trojans, 5-1. The top-3 singles matches were competitive, but Park Hill was unable to pull any of them out.
Whalen fell by scores of 6-3 and 6-1; Ericksen lost 6-1 and 6-2; and Lynn came up short by losing her matches, 6-3 and 6-2. Lynn and Robertson won their doubles match over the Stars, 8-3.
Whalen and Miller didn’t score in their singles match, while Ericksen and Petrillo fell, 8-4. Park Hill ended its historical season with a 16-3 record, which is the most wins the Trojans have had since 2010.
