Following an hour delay due to frost on the Tiffany Greens Golf Course, Park Hill South took second place out of 15 teams in the Darren Floyd Memorial on April 6.
The weather conditions were a bit chilly but that didn’t faze Park Hill South who finished with 302 strokes, only one behind first-place Lee’s Summit West. Park Hill wasn’t too far behind taking fourth place with 313 strokes and Platte County ended in ninth place with 341 strokes.
Park Hill’s Zach Cato had an impressive performance, finishing in fourth place overall with 75 strokes. Cato was in a 3-way tie, alongside Park Hill South’s Keegan Feder and Drew Hurley.
Park Hill South’s Lucas Nichols and Jack McNearney were one stroke behind those three. The Panther duo was in a 4-way tie in seventh place.
Park Hill had another pair of top-11 finishers when Baker Fredal and Alejandro Magana tied. The two Trojans – and Platte County senior Parker Amos – were in a 4-way tie for 11th place with 77 strokes.
Gavin Schaag ended with 84 strokes and Ethan Howell had 85 strokes to close the day out for Park Hill. John Rieger was the only Panther to not end in the top-11 when he finished with 94 strokes.
For Platte County, there was a bit of a gap between its top-2 performers as Josh Knickman claimed 33rd place with 83 strokes. Jackson Gabbert and Braden Hendee finished in back-to-back spots with 90 and 91 strokes and Ben Gillilan ended the day with 98 strokes.
