Park Hill South softball splits pair in Red Division play

Liberty pulled the Suburban Conference Red Division sweep of two league matchups with Park Hill South, scoring three in the top of the sixth of a 3-2 comeback win Thursday, Sept. 14 at Park Hill South High School in Riverside, Mo.

Park Hill South junior Gracie Dieleman worked out of trouble in the first, second and third innings, stranding three different runners in scoring position. She retired nine straight at one point before Liberty strung together four straight singles plus and error to score three in the sixth.

Park Hill South led 1-0 after a leadoff error in the bottom of the second led to Emma Beuerlein’s two-out RBI single for an unearned run. The Panthers doubled the advantage the next inning on Kate Kobayashi’s leadoff double and another error.

However, Park Hill South ended up with just six hits total — all singles and only three after the third inning. The Panthers stranded all three of those runners.
