Park Hill South suffered its first loss of the season in the Lee’s Summit North Bronco Invitational over the weekend. Four straight sweeps moved the Panthers’ streak to 12 straight since last losing a set, but they went down in straight sets to Pleasant Hill in bracket play.
Prior to the loss, Park Hill South (15-1) last dropped a set during a 2-1 win over Lee’s Summit North in late August.
The Panthers’ unbeaten start continued with sweeps of Winnetonka, Raymore-Peculiar and Ozark in pool play. They then beat Lee’s Summit West to advance in bracket play before the loss to Chicks, who were 12-1 on the season after losing to St. Teresa’s Academy during the tournament.
Andi Elley led Park Hill South’s attack with 42 kills in the five matches, while Annika Welty turned in 38 on just 73 attempts. Allison Sadler, the Panthers’ senior setter, averaged more than 20 assists a match with a total of 102.
Emily Day topped Park Hill South’s defense with 52 digs, while Elley added 42.

Panthers senior Bri Bartosh finished in double figures for kills in a second straight match, totaling a match-high 11 in a sweep Thursday, Sept. 15 in Independence, Mo., while Sadler totaled 21 assists on 27 total kills.

Bartosh collected 12 kills in a dominant showing Tuesday, Sept. 13 at Park Hill South High School in Riverside, Mo. She accounted for nearly half of the Panthers’ 26 kills overall. Elley added six.
Sadler provided 21 assists and a team-high four service aces, while Day led the defense with eight digs.
