COLUMBIA, Mo. — Park Hill South senior Christian Ludtke led the Panthers in scoring and trips to the medal podium at the Missouri Class 5 Track and Field Championships on Saturday, May 25, at Battle High School in Columbia, Mo.
Ludtke ran the anchor for the boys’ 4x800 relay team that won sectionals heading into the state championships. The Panthers finished fourth with a mark of 7:52.64.
Ludtke also got a second chance to climb the medal stand with a sixth-place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:57.84.
Junior Ethan Mick ran the opening leg for the 4x800 team. Mick also tried to earn a medal in the 800 meter run but came up short with an 11th place finish. Also on the 4x800 team were juniors Bret Worley and Maxwell Goertzen.
A couple of seniors had their final bids at a state medal come up short. Benjamin Owere finished 10th in the triple jump with a mark of 44-04.25. Addison Snowball finished 13th in the discus throw.
Junior Connor McCauley also had his bid for a medal come up short with a 10th place finish in the 400 meter dash.
Only two Lady Panthers made the trip to Columbia. Junior Alexandra Hammond placed 13th in the 300 meter hurdles and got tripped up in the 100 meter hurdles and finished 16th. Freshman Maya Sullivan came up just short in the pole vault with a 10th place finish with a mark of 10-03.
