Park Hill tennis sweeps way through Lee's Summit West Invitational

Park Hill opened the season with a sweep of the Lee’s Summit schools, earning six individual titles en route to the Lee’s Summit West Invitational championship.

The Trojans lost only four matches in victories against Lee’s Summit, Lee’s Summit West and Lee’s Summit North on Monday, March 29 in Lee’s Summit, Mo. The margin of victory increased throughout the day starting with a 6-3 win against Lee’s Summit followed with an 8-1 rout of Lee’s Summit West and capped with a 9-0 sweep of Lee’s Summit North.

A returning Class 2 playoff team qualifier, Park Hill put its depth on display.

The doubles teams of Joel Lesher and Chandler To (No. 2) and Cooper Hayes and Ryan Moise (No. 3) were both individual champions as were To (No. 3), Grant Martin (No. 4), Lesher (No. 5) and Matt Zhang (No. 6) in singles. The No. 1 doubles team of Jake McFee and Henry Eckold were runners-up, and McFee also finished second at No. 2 singles.

Platte County 9, Oak Park 0

The Pirates opened their season with a new look lineup and a sweep Tuesday, March 23 at Oak Park High School. Spencer Kunz, a junior, debuted at the No. 1 spot with Josh Timmons, Zack Regan, Andy Day, Spencer Klopfer and Noah Singer completing the lineup. 

Platte County then lost 9-0 to Liberty North on Wednesday, March 24 in Liberty, Mo.
It was Platte County’s first action under long time assistant Anna Nutt who stepped into the head coaching role after Zach Keith took a hiatus.
