The holiday season comes to Parkville and Dearborn this weekend with Christmas on the River and Christmas in Dearborn.
Parkville’s Christmas on the river will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 in downtown Parkville. Activities will run until 10 p.m. and include live entertainment on the main stage in English Landing Park and Pocket Park on Main Street.
The Park Hill grade school choir will perform, photos with Santa Claus will be available and the Dickens Carolers will stroll through downtown. The event features hayrides through English Landing Park, trackless train rides for kids, food, shopping and more.
A fireworks show over the Missouri River will cap off the night.
Public parking is available downtown in city lots and a free shuttle service will run from the Platte County Community Center South.
In Dearborn, Saturday festivities begin with the 13th annual Cookies with Santa from 1-3 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Dearborn Area Fire Protection District’s fire station.
Christmas in Dearborn will run from 3-6 p.m. on Main Street. Vendors and refreshments will be available and the Northern Platte Historical Museum will be open. Central Bank will offer free hot dogs.
A lighted parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. With entries open to all. Points are given for creativity and lighting with prizes available for first, second and third places.
The Dearborn Branch of Mid-Continent Public Library will offer book bundles at the library.
