Parkville resident opens shop in Zona Rosa

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — On her birthday a year ago, Sandra Green made a decision to follow one of her many passions.

The Parkville resident decided last April to sign on to be a franchisee for Amazing Lash Studio after visiting the corporate headquarters in Scottsdale, Ariz. After inking the contract, the next step was to find a location.

As it turned out, a location not far from her home became the ideal landing spot.

There were franchises in Overland Park, Kan., and Lee’s Summit, Mo., both opened within the last year.

“There was one east and one south and it was leaning for me being here and making a triangle for service for clients,” Green said. “We are right off 152, right off I-29 and Barry Road. It is very convenient for all of this area.”

On Dec. 11, the doors were opened for Amazing Lash Studio at 8510 NW Prairie View Road. In the past few weeks, there have been ribbon cuttings for the location by both the Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Parkville Chamber of Commerce.

Green is very familiar with the Northland.

A native of South Dakota, Green moved to Parkville in 1986 and her children attended Park Hill South. She has been involved in real estate throughout the metro with housing projects at Staley Farms, Riss Lake and The National.

Green, who has been an interior designer for 15 years, is excited about the location and the future of her business.

“This is more about me and I believe it is a sound investment,” she said. “I always have been interested in beauty. The saying always be passionate about what you do and I wanted to do my best and this is a combo of really making people feel good and building people up. I like the combination of the service but also the education. It is so good for people to know the difference.”

Green herself has used eyelash extensions in the past but noted the issues she and many other of her friends had was it was quite time consuming and the results weren’t always what was desired.

With the co-founders of Amazing Lash Studio having a medical profession background, the company had patented something that is safe and effective, according to Green.

Each employee is a licensed esthetician or cosmetologist and will undergo two weeks of training with national and regional trainers.

Each franchise is nearly identical in terms of layout and the relaxation suites, Green noted. There are 179 locations nationwide in 28 states. According to Entrepreneur Magazine, the company founded by Jessica and Edward Le is the fastest growing franchise in the lash/brow category and No. 136 overall in the Franchise 500 selections.

There are also special prices for those using the studio for the first time and memberships are also offered.

“Everyone feels like they are helping each other,” Green said. “It is really geared toward the lashes, after care education and always committed to being more effective and more affordable.”

There are 14 employees at the Zona Rosa location and they are open seven days a week.

“We are really excited,” Zona Rosa marketing assistant Maris Panjada said of the addition of Amazing Lash Studio. “They add a fun wellness element to Zona Rosa to go with eye brows and skin care. We are excited for the future here at Zona Rosa.”
